  Registering for this event is how you pay your instructor fees to the Liberal Gun Club. You are not fully certified until this step is completed, and you must be an active member for your instructor certification to be valid. Please ensure you use the SAME email address that you have set as your membership email address for tracking purposes.

  IMPORTANT: Only select one of these registration types. If you sign up for Firearms Familiarization, you also get Intro to Range Safety, and if you pick Defensive Pistol, you get BOTH of the other courses made available to you.

• May LGC DMV Range Trip to the Cove!

   We have coordinated with The Cove to get access to both of their outdoor ranges.  I have opened the registration to 20 people with a waiting list.  If we hit 20 respondents, we will open it up to more. 

  The registration fee will directly cover The Cove's range fee. 
  

  The Facility:
  

  • We will have access two ranges (100 yards and 500 yards).  The short range was lengthened. 
    
  • We will have access to the long range between 2:30pm to 5:00PM. 
    
  • The ranges are up a dirt track.  You may have issues getting a sports car or similar to the parking lot at either range.  Those of us who have vehicles that can get up the trail can help get you to the range from the parking lot at the office.
    
  • There is onsite EV charging from RV plug in points (as I understand it).  Contact the Cove for details. 
    
  • There is water at the office but not at either of the ranges.  Bring at least 1 water bottle. Its very important to stay hydrated.
    
  • The Cove does not sell food.  Bring snacks and a bag lunch.  
  • The cove sells paper targets.
    
  • We will have access to a picnic pavilion.
  • Although we will not be able to reserve space, we should have enough space at each of the ranges.

  Our Trip

  • Bring rifles, pistols and shotguns.  If its legal in VA and safe to shoot, bring it!

  • Bring your own ammunition, no ammunition is sold on site.  Do not shoot tracers or incendiary ammo.  API projectiles caused fires at the short range on two occasions. 
    
  • Guests are welcome, up to 2 per member.  They will need to sign the LGC event waiver.  
  • All participants will need to sign The Cove's Range Waver when they get on site.
    
  • There is camping so if you plan to camp, make separate arrangements with the Cove.  We can try to have everyone camp in the same area.
    
  • There is limited cell phone coverage.  There is free wifi at the office.  This is ideal for checking in via Discord.
    
  • Afterwords, many of us get dinner in Winchester.

• Maine Range Day and Social Event

  Hey everyone,

  We’re excited to announce our upcoming Range Day & Social Event happening Saturday, May 3rd from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM in Gray, ME

  We’ll kick things off at 1:00 PM at Birchwood Brewing (19 Portland Rd, Gray, ME 04039) for food, drinks, and good conversation. Food and beverages will be at your own expense—they’ve got a great selection, so come hungry!

  Then, at around 3:00 PM, we’ll head over to Howell’s Indoor Range (just a mile down the road) for our reserved group shooting slot at 3:30 PM. The range portion will run for an hour and costs $25 per person. You can pay in cash or by app (Venmo, Paypal) the day of directly to Chapter Leadership. Howell’s charges separately for gun rentals, ammo, targets, and PPE, but some members may have gear to share if needed—just ask!

  We’ve booked a 10-person slot, so if you’d like to shoot, please register ASAP. If we get more interest, we’ll try to expand the booking, but spots will be first-come, first-served if that’s not possible.

  We ask everyone attending—whether you're joining us for the social, the range, or both—to register so we can plan accordingly. If you plan on only attending the social please reach out to us so we can open a range slot for someone wanting to attend. 

  Important Note: While Birchwood Brewing does serve adult beverages, we strongly recommend not consuming alcohol if you plan to participate in the shooting portion of the day. Safety first—always.

• CT/New England LGC Chapter Range Day

  Join the Massachusetts (and New England) Chapter for our second range day of 2025!

  We'll be shooting OUTDOORS at Blue Trail Range in Wallingford, CT. We have arranged with Blue Trail to rent their Police/Dinan Range. This is a 50-meter, 30-station range where rifle, shotgun, and pistol cartridges are allowed. We will move the firing line as needed during the day to accommodate handguns and long guns. We'll have the entire range reserved from 9AM until they close at 5PM. We will stop shooting at 4:15PM in order to have time to clean up the range, have a debrief, and depart before they close.

  A safety brief will be conducted promptly at 9AM, and anyone arriving after this will need to check in with one of the LGC Range Officers to have a safety briefing before uncasing any firearms. No targets are provided, but LGC folks can bring steel targets for pistol and shotgun, so long as proper distance is maintained and no centerfire rifle ammunition is shot at them (due to the limited 50 meter range). Blue Trail has paper target stands available for $3/each, or you can bring your own (2 pieces of strapping ~4' high and cardboard to staple between the uprights)

  They have rentals available and sell ammo, but only to those with CT permits. Out of state residents are welcome, but unless they have a CT permit, please do not bring "Assault Weapons" or pistols with you. You can bring your own ammo and non-assault weapon long guns into the state. Please read CT state firearms laws to understand the finer points, but it would be unwise to bring any semi-automatic long guns into CT. There is also a 10-round magazine capacity limit for both handguns and long guns. No magazine-fed semiautomatic shotguns are allowed.

  The cost is $40/person, which covers the whole day on the range. Non-LGC Member guests are $45. We will cap this range day at 30 people for now, and if we exceed that, we can open up more spots. 

  They should have a food truck on location, but I would suggest bringing a cooler with drinks and something to eat (after de-leading your hands). I've heard that parking can be difficult, especially if it's rained recently. More details to follow when we get closer to the event date.
