LGC DMV 1st meeting as a formal chapter

I am pleased to announce that the LGC DMV is now a formal LGC chapter!  Please read the constitution and bylaws. 

We now need to elect officers, act on some proposed amendments (after the content was finalized, we found some issues that could use attention) and begin holding regular meetings and hosting events. 

To function as a chapter, we need to elect a board.  As per the constitution and bylaws, elections are to be conducted via email.  We need to elect a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and optional jurisdictional representatives for DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Their duties are outlined in the linked constitution and bylaws. 

Due to the process which we drafted and approved the constitution, we found some issues post-approval that merit attention.  These include the ability to delegate powers to a committee, permit elections by condorcet (instant run-off) voting, etc. 

Lastly we need to start planning club events such as range days. 

If you are interested in standing for election, email me by June 21 with your name, which office you are running for and a bit about why you are running.  I will get you on the candidate list. At that point, I will send out an email to conduct the election. 

We will have a meeting on the 30th at 8pm to start the process of amending the Constitution and Bylaws, establishing committees and taking next steps to begin operations as a chapter.
