Hello Illinois Chapter Members!
Our first meeting since the Covid quarantine started and I'm excited to get back into it. In order to put these emails out to everyone in the Chapter, each time I do a member search to capture everyone in Illinois. The number of members is usually hovering around 70. When I did the search today, there were 132. So welcome, welcome, welcome, all the new members and I imagine many may be new gun owners!
I'm putting the link to the virtual meeting here, but please send back an RSVP so we can get a general head count of attendees. I believe the attendance is limited to 30 people so if I get more than that, Carl (our Sec/Treas) will need to figure out an alternative to the Jitsi platform we're trying out. Or, alternatively, a second meeting might need to be scheduled.
The main subject to cover at this meeting will be the National, which is virtual this year. I'll let you all know what's entailed and planned and get a list of anyone who would like to volunteer. I'll definitely need tech savvy people to help. Most of the meeting will be over Zoom for live streaming and I believe chats will be going on with Discord.
We will also broach the subject of 2nd Amendment rights in Illinois and what we may be able to do in each of our local areas (I'm mostly looking at you, Cook County) to approach local politicians and start to change minds about gun laws and why they don't work, with what their energies should be going toward instead.
