We are working to contact our representatives to scheduling virtual meetings to discuss our concerns.
Firstly we have some good news: HB2276 which criminalizes the construction or possession of hobbyist-built craft firearms got fixed to only apply to transferring a home built firearm or constructing one. Existing home-build firearms are exempted. Once the session ends we will discuss legislative goals for next year and work to contact our elected representatives over the spring and summer to make our case.
Our goals include:
Make the case against further gun bans and other laws that will do nothing to reduce interpersonal violence while burdening lawful gun owners. Tighten requirements for red-flag law petitions to they are not used in lieu of other police powers that have greater restrictions to prevent their abuse and increase penalties for making false statements to obtain a red flag order. Promote evidence based suicide and violence-prevention programs. Urge our representatives to repeal racist gun laws.
